  • I dont hear much about mechanical issues - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport

I dont drive my vehicle hard by any means yet I have had numerous brake problems, ex. rotors and calipers replaced on a vehicle that was only two years old at the time. I have had a windshield leak in the drivers side corner which the dealer could not seem to fix. My brother actually took it to work one day and fixed it for me. I have had the rear wiper motor quit after one year and I barely used it. I hear squeaks and rubbing all the time when I am slowing down to stop yet the dealer cannot find where any noise is coming from. Buy another Ford, I think not! And this was the first brand new vehicle I ever purchased. Older models certainly were made better than the stuff out there now.

Doesnt seem to do well on snow and ice. Steering also seems tight.

  • Decent Used SUV - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Had to get a car quickly as I was turning in my lemon 2005 Saturn L300. I passed by a used car lot close to where I live and found my black Exlorer Sport 4x4. So far, this vehicle has been pretty much trouble free and handles decently for a vehicle of this type. I really enjoy having a 2 door and only hope Ford will bring it back.

Ive owned it for 10 months, and it has only 35K miles and already is is the shop getting the transmission replaced. Warranty is only 3yr/36K, even on drivetrain. The ride is very rough, but what you would expect from a short wheel based truck. Must wear seat belt or the car beeps at you every couple of minuts, very annoying.

Have not had a problem with this Explorer. IM driving it to work daily and through the snowiest of conditions in the Upper Peninsula of Mighigan.

  • Best looking Suv out there ! - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport

I have had my 2002 Explorer Sport for 8 months now and am very pleased with it. The handling is very good and compared to my 93 Explorer Sport it feels like a sports car. The power is very good. There is no comparison between my new sport and my old one on the freeway. I have yet to find anything wrong with it so far except for a few rattles.

  • OK, but youll want those 4 doors - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport
    By -

Not a bad overall vehicle, but am really upset that I didnt pony up the extra 1500 for the 4dr model. The 2 door really does limit its appeal and resale plummets w/ the 2door compared to the 4dr model. Fun & quiet to drive, but the dinky gas tank always makes you on guard during long trips.

Great car for those who want an affordable SUV that drives and rides extremely well. Very satisfied with my purchase. The interior looks very sporty and also is very comfortable.

  • Excellent Vehicle - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport

Absolutely no problems whatsoever. Rides beautifully. Great transmission. Plenty of power and very good gas mileage for a vehicle of this type. Over 16000 miles and not a rattle in it.

  • Dependable Small SUV - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
    By -

I have over 140K mile bought the vehicle with only 6K. Bumpy rode but not a bad vehicle at all. Just out grown. Bought the vehicle when it was only my son and I now Im married with additional 2 kids. Need more room now. ***Not a family car*** But dependable and reliable. Just the normal maintenance needed so far.
